Meet Savvy, aka Saveloy or LoyLoy ❤️

Our big, beautiful softie who loves everyone, including humans, dogs and our cat!

I fell in love with Savvy while working at the SPCA and took her home to “foster” at just nine weeks old. Despite her rough start in life, she’s completed our family, and we couldn’t imagine life without her.

Sadly, Savvy has struggled with hip issues since she was young, likely due to genetics and backyard breeding. Earlier this year, she tore her cruciate ligament just three days before her first veterinary physio appointment.

Despite rest, pain relief and physio, she needs TPLO surgery, quoted at around $6,000.

Her x-rays brought more heartbreaking news: alongside hip dysplasia and her injured knee, she has elbow dysplasia and arthritis in both elbows, both hips and her right knee. At just 18 months old, she faces lifelong pain management and physio, with an uncertain long-term prognosis.

Savvy may not be here for a long time, but we want the time she does have to be as pain-free as possible. Surgery won't fix everything, but it will hopefully improve her mobility and help her enjoy life again.
