Help send the Whanganui Jazz Orchestra to the Christchurch Big Band Festival 2026 to represent our region.

Whanganui, Manawatu-Wanganui

The Whanganui Jazz Orchestra (WJO) is seeking support to help us attend the Christchurch Big Band Festival 2026 over Labour Weekend in October.

For more than 15 years, WJO has entertained audiences across the Manawatū-Whanganui region, providing local musicians of all ages the opportunity to perform, learn, and promote live jazz music.

This year, we have the exciting opportunity to represent Whanganui at one of New Zealand’s premier big band events. The festival will allow our musicians to perform alongside outstanding ensembles from around the country, gain valuable experience, and proudly showcase the talent of our region.

This is their first trip further than Palmerston North.

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for some of our members!!!

* Transport to and from Christchurch

* Accommodation for musicians

* Vehicle and equipment transport costs

* Festival participation expenses

* Keeping the trip affordable for all members
