Fundraising to help Ray & Roni get to the World Cup in France 2026
Tauranga, Bay Of Plenty
Kia ora friends, whānau, and roller derby supporters,
This April we’re heading to Orléans, France for the Men’s Roller Derby World Cup. Ray (“X-Ray”) has been selected to represent Team New Zealand on the track, and Roni (“Diamond”) will also be travelling with the team as both a player and coach.
Representing Aotearoa on the world stage is an incredible honour, but roller derby in New Zealand is entirely self-funded. Players and coaches cover their own travel, accommodation, uniforms, and tournament fees.
Roni’s dedication to roller derby spans 15+ years. Since 2017, she has coached New Zealand Men’s Roller Derby and Kiwi Toa, and has long supported the growth of men’s roller derby in Aotearoa.
Ray has also dedicated years to the sport through training, competing, officiating and supporting the derby community. Being selected for the World Cup is an incredible opportunity and a proud moment for both of us.
We’re reaching out to our community to help make this journey possible. Any support will go toward travel and tournament costs.
Every contribution, big or small, is hugely appreciated. If donating isn’t possible, sharing this page would mean just as much.
Ngā mihi nui for your support.

Thank you for the amazing support! 13 March 2026
We just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated and shared our page so far. We’ve been blown away by the generosity and support from our friends, whānau, and the roller derby community.
Training is well underway as we prepare for the Men’s Roller Derby World Cup in Orléans. Ray has been putting in the hard work on and off skates, and Pakō has been doing his part too — helping Ray prepare by running alongside him during his outdoor skating sessions 🐕🛼
Every bit of support helps take the pressure off the costs of getting halfway around the world to represent Aotearoa, and it honestly means a lot knowing we have so many people behind us on this journey.
Whether you’ve donated, shared the page, or sent us messages of encouragement — thank you. 🖤🖤
