Shaé needs your urgent attention. This is how you can help a talented adolescent keep her mobility and fulfill her potential.
Christchurch, Canterbury
Shaé, a vibrant and wholehearted teenager, attends the Special Music Program at Burnside High School in Chirstchurch and has a promising future in this field. Unfortunately, her severe scoliosis may put an end to this bright future and affect her mobility permanently if nothing is done within months. The curvature of her spine went from 44° in February to 49° in June, hence the urgency. Fortunately Shaé has access to a low invasive and innovative surgery "vertebral body tethering" in France. A surgery is booked for Shaé on October 2nd provided the family can pay upfront by mid September. Unfortunately the insurance does not cover the costs.
This family needs your help to get them to France, where their daughter will receive the surgery that will allow her to continue to grow and promises full mobility. You can find all the details and even x-rays to understand the severity of the situation on the facebook page dedicated to Shaé's journey, where you can follow her progress. Thank you for your support, and / or for sharing Shaé's story with your entourage.
Shaé is my child's friend, they call one another sisters and her family has been there in our hardest times of need. It is their turn to get support from the community. Shaé's health is on the line and the curvature ofher spine increases rapidly.
The money will go against flights for Shaé and her parents, the surgery and hospital stay. The planned expenses are laid out on the Facebook Page. Any spare funds will be donated to Autism NZ. The details will be shared on the same Facebook page.
Shaé met her surgeon last Monday and is getting ready for this coming Monday's surgery 29 September 2023
Last Monday Shaé met her surgeon, Dr Solla and her anesthetic specialist.
They are both wonderful and gave us confidence.
They answered all the questions Shaé and her parents had, they prepared her by explaining everything.
The surgery should take 2 hours of preparation and 3 hours in the operating room. X rays and blood tests are done. Shaé goes into hospital on Sunday afternoon. Her family thanks you all for your support and kindness along the way. They will send regular updates on the facebook page created to that effect and I will also keep you informed (https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=169556529524827&set=a.142343082246172)
