Raising funds for my amazing sister Shalina and her family of 6 (soon to be 7) who have recently been made homeless by the devastating floods that hit Auckland. Her family had only 5 minutes to escape their house, and jump the back fence to get away from the rising waters. What made their escape more complicated is the fact that Shalina is 5 months pregnant and has recently undergone knee surgery.

In an act of selflessness, after escaping they stayed to assist their neighbours with Shalina’s partner Ratai along with their son 14-year-old Traycint braving the floods to move cars and carry people to safety.
In the space of 5 minutes they have lost their house, their cars and all their belongings with no insurance to cover their loss.
I’m raising funds for my sister and her family to help them put their lives back together. Money raised will be put towards beds, furniture, clothing and anything else that they need to rebuild their lives.
This is a family that has been through so much and yet still stayed to help others.
I appreciate any support you can give, big or small. Through your kindness and generosity, we can pay it forward to a family that has done so much for their community during a time of crisis.
If you are unable to donate, I would appreciate you taking the time to share this page so we can get the word out there.
Nga mihi,
James

Shalina & Ratai’s family update 23 February 2023
Kia ora friends & family.
Aotearoa has obviously had a rough month. It was a bit tough to continue asking for more support for my sisters family when there were so many affected by the recent weather events.
An update on Shalina’s situation: We have been so overwhelmed by the amazing donations to this givealittle page and also to the many many donations of support of food, bedding, clothing and household items. Shalina’s family have been set up for last several weeks staying at a hotel in Mangere. The kids have yet to go back to school due to being so far away in their current location.
Good news, Shalina and her family have found their new home in Avondale and are beginning the process of moving in. The pic is a photo of some of the kids playing in their new driveway for the first time.
There’s still a long way to go to get Shalina and her family back on their feet before baby comes.
So I would like to do one more big push before this give a little page ends in this final week. Anything and everything helps. If you could please donate what you can or at least re share on social medias, I would be very appreciative of your efforts.
Thank you to everyone who’s donated, supported, direct messaged, added a helping hand, ect. None of it goes unnoticed. You are all amazing, thank you so so much!
James
