Sheryl an amazing selfless mum, grandmother, sister and wife is fighting cancer for the third time and we need your help!
Waikato
Hi everyone. I would like to ask you all to help a very special friend to so many who has been through so much in the last few years. Sheryl Martin works alongside me as a Survivor Advocate supporting our Survivors and their family/whanau through the criminal justice system. Sheryl worked for Victim Support for 14 years helping thousands of victim/survivors before she blessed us with her beautiful, calm, selfless way of helping our survivors of sexual violence. Sheryl was diagnosed with breast cancer which led to her having a mastectomy. She fought and nearly won that battle until the cancer came back and attacked her bones, she fought, and the cancer is stable. The cancer has now been found in her kidney and unfortunately removing the kidney is not an option. Pharmac will not fund the drug Ibrance that will prolong Sheryl’s life even though there are hundreds of other women and men with the same type of cancer who are screaming out and fighting so hard that this drug has to be funded as most other countries do including Australia. Sheryl needs to pay between $9,000 and $10,000 per month for this possible life saving drug. There is also another drug that Sheryl requires which is Fulvestrant and unfortunately this is not funded either. We are asking for help in achieving this so that Sheryl can look forward to seeing her twin 5-year-old grandsons (pictured) that both her and her husband help look after, her daughter and son achieve milestones and goals in their lives. I know this is a difficult time of the year for many to give a little but the way I look at it, cancer waits for no one and the sooner we get to the monetary goal required the longer we have our beautiful wahine, sister, grandmother, mother and wife. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
I work with Sheryl and she is such a selfless amazing woman who deserves all the help in the world!
All money raised will be put towards a possible life saving drug Ibrance at a cost of between $9,000 and $10,000 per month
