Help Snow Cat recover from being shot

$5,356 of $5,000 goal
Given by 148 generous donors in 4 weeks

Snowy managed to survive being shot in the head three times. Now we need help to get her back to full health.

Waikato

Snowy is the sweetest cat, loves everyone and is never a bother except for cuddles. That's why it's all the more confusing that someone has shot her.

Over the weekend she came home with awful injuries to her head. Now it turns out that she was shot three times in the head and neck. The attack has left her with horrible injuries to her eye, as well as bullet fragments in her neck and ear, and some lead in her digestive system.

Thankfully, she survived and managed to make it home. Now we're trying to do our part and get her back to health.

Snowy will need surgery to remove her eye, treatment to get lead fragments out of her system, and an extended stay at the vet. Despite her injuries she's still friendly and battling to get through this, so putting her down doesn't seem right.

Her owners have some savings, but this is going to be beyond that. Current vet bill estimate is around $5,000, but it could be more. Anything you can do to help would be so appreciated.

Use of funds

Funds will be used only for vet bills. In the unlikely event we get more than needed, it would be donated to Crazy Cat Lady Cat Rescue, where Snowy was adopted from.

Snow Cat is on the mend  6 March 2018

Thank you again everyone for your support. The money has helped Snowy get the medical help she needs. The many lovely messages have helped her humans heal, too.

Snowy has come through today's surgery in very good shape. Her right eye has been removed, as well as her teeth. I know that sounds bad, but we're just glad to still have her with us. We can still give her a really good life, thanks to the care from Ian at Hamilton Veterinary Services. That man is an angel in vet form.

Snowy is coming home tomorrow, as long as she's strong enough. So we're going to close this page now, because we have far more than we ever dreamed of getting. Thank you all again for your generosity, it has meant so much, particularly to Snowy's mum. She's blown away by how many kind strangers from around the world have pitched in to help.

If you'd still like to help, there are other animals on the Givealittle site that would love your support. We're still waiting on the final bill for Snow, but have told Crazy Cat Lady Cat Rescue that they can expect a donation from us soon.

As an aside, yes the SPCA and NZ Police are now involved. We're hopeful someone will be held accountable for what happened to Snowy.
