Help Steadfast Books Stay Alive in Christchurch, New Zealand

'A good bookshop is not just about selling books from shelves, but reaching out into the world and making a difference'

Our goal when opening Steadfast Books 4 years ago was to create a destination 2nd hand book store in Christchurch. As before the 2010/11 earthquakes, Christchurch was known as the 2nd hand bookstore capital of New Zealand but as all the cheap commercial buildings were lost, this resulted in about 11 stores closing.

We weren't able to renew our lease and were given until the 30th Dec 2024 to vacate. Our vision has always been to create a safe book lovers sanctuary for everyone, that will allow us to have comfy chairs, study areas

We had an amazing response to our crowd funding that covered our moving costs and just outstanding support that we've had from our community so far through messages of encouragement and assisting our move.

As you can see from the images, our warehouse location is jammed packed.

The new purpose of this give a little page is to crowd fund the store set up costs as while we are not trading we will still have to pay rent on the warehouse and other business costs.

We would love this to go viral worldwide as lots of people donating just $1 would help help. We cant believe how much support we have had from our community so far through messages of encouragement and coming and visiting our store.
