Help Support Coraline Through Her Cancer Journey

    Here’s a quick update on Coraline.

    She’s now halfway through her final round of chemotherapy and has come through the hardest part, which is a big milestone. She’ll be having a scan in April, followed by a short break from treatment before starting radiation in May, which will run daily for around three weeks.

    From April, Coraline will also begin hormone therapy medication, which she’ll be on for approximately seven years, alongside continuing her monthly hormone therapy injections for the next five years.

    She’s understandably feeling quite tired, both emotionally and physically, but hypnotherapy with her psychologist has been helping her a great deal. She’s very much looking forward to getting through the remainder of treatment and moving on from this phase.

    Thank you all for keeping Coraline in your thoughts and for the love and support you continue to show her, it truly means so much to her.

    The incredibly talented Michelle McLiver has generously listed one of her beautiful original paintings on Trade Me to support Coraline’s recovery:

    100% of the proceeds from this auction will be donated directly to this page to help with her ongoing care and treatment.

    The artwork, titled “Karekare Falls”, captures one of West Auckland’s most iconic and breathtaking waterfalls. A framed piece of this calibre from Michelle would normally retail for around $2,000, so this is a rare opportunity to own a very special piece of art while also contributing to this special cause.

    I was lucky enough to see Coraline briefly last Thursday when she popped into Senso to have her hair washed and blow-waved. She hadn’t been able to wash her hair herself yet, as wasn't allowed to get the surgery area wet. So it was lovely to see her being pampered, and even though she was tired, she still had her radiant Coraline smile.

    She is now at home resting and gently recovering before the next stage of her treatment begins

  • Update on Coraline

    Coraline underwent her mastectomy surgery last week, and we’re so relieved to hear that everything went well. It’s good to have that part behind her.

    Recovery has been challenging, with some nausea and fatigue, which is completely normal after such a major procedure. Hang in there, Coraline. Take the time you need to rest and heal. We’re all sending strength and positive energy for a smooth and speedy recovery. 🌸

    Here’s an update from Coraline. While it’s not the news we hoped for with Senso, we’re so proud of her for prioritising her health. As she faces no income, she still needs our support while finalising salon finances and managing without income. Please continue to give generously. Coraline has been deeply touched by your kindness. Let’s send her strength as she undergoes surgery this week.

    💗 A Message from Coraline 💗

    As some of you already know, I’ve recently been diagnosed with cancer. After much thought and discussion with my medical team, I’ve made the difficult decision to step back from hairdressing for now, as my treatments will be long-term and ongoing over the next few years.

    It hasn’t been easy to let go of the scissors after so many years at Senso, but I’m deeply grateful for all the love, loyalty, and support I’ve received from each of you.

    The good news is that Natalie who many of you have already met will be taking over senso and all the clients. I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside her for the past few months, and she’s truly amazing: warm, talented, and passionate about making people feel their best.
