Help Support Matt Scotts Road to Recovery

In the blink of an eye life can change just like that.

On Sunday the 18th of Feb 2024, Matt was living his best life riding the waves of the Mangawhai Heads Bar. Matt a frequent experienced local surfer and lifeguard, who has been involved with many rescues and knows the beach well. Became the subject of a major rescue himself, suffering a serious spinal injury. With a strong family history associated with the Mangawhai Heads Surf Club it’s fortunate some of his fellow lifeguards and surfers were there to perform an outstanding rescue.

Matt an independent 32 year old guy is now recovering in Middlemore Hospital. While we are unsure of what his future holds we know his road to health is going to be long and hard.

We need your help to ensure he gets the best rehab, gear and care that he needs to make the best recovery possible. The Scott family would like to thank everyone for all the support over the last week.
