Help support the staff of Telford who's wages have been suspended due the Telford being put into liquidation.
Otago
As many of you will be aware Telford Farm has been dragged into the Taratahi voluntary liquidation mess, and right at the heart of it, over 30 staff members at Telford have been placed on suspension by the interim liquidators while possible options to continue operations are explored.
SIT is putting together a proposal to take to the minister. However in the meantime staff are in a cruel and rare situation, with staff from Telford now receiving no wages.
As Clutha District Mayor along with NZ First MP Mark Patterson I have set up this page to support these people short-term till this SIT proposal can be decided by the Government.
There is a local determination for Telford to continue its long history of servicing agricultural students and the industry.
Mark and I are committed to supporting the staff that have been affected by Telford being put into liquidation. Staff have had their wages frozen and any financial support we can give them while we work on saving Telford is greatly appreciated.
To help financially support staff till we can find a viable, sustainable option for the Telford Campus.
Thank you everyone for your generosity. 23 January 2019
Thank you everyone for your generosity. The contribution you have made to not only elevate the challenge facing staff but also assisting in giving Telford the chance of being able to continue its proud tradition of educating our future agricultural workers.
While there are still challenges to overcome, work is progressing favourably and all of the group working on saving Telford is still determined to see students arriving early February to begin their study.
