Help support Taha Fasi's cancer treatment

  • In lieu of flowers

      8 September 2022

As mentioned in an earlier update, in lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to Leataata O Tupulaga Ole Pasefika, a local Samoan preschool undertaking a building expansion project – a project that was close to Taha's heart.

Please get in touch at imelda@twosparrows.co.nz if you would like to do so.

  • Update from the Fasi family

      6 September 2022

It is with sadness that we share this update with you.

On Sunday night, 4 September (Father's Day), Taha breathed his last, after a valiant effort to beat cancer. We are so very grateful to all who donated through this page and extended well wishes for his treatment. We are thankful for the extra time we were able to have with Taha.

We would love to hear any stories or fond memories of Taha that you would like to share with us. We would like to collate these memories for us to keep as a way to remember Taha. You can send these to us directly, or use this form: https://forms.gle/xWse551ANDj1LsnY7

A Family Service will be held at 6pm, Thursday 8 September, followed by a Funeral Service at 11am, Friday 9 September. Both services will be held at Northwest Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd, 2-24 Moire Rd, Massey, Auckland. Both services will be live-streamed. Links will be sent later.

In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to Leataata O Tupulaga Ole Pasefika, a local Samoan preschool undertaking a building expansion project – a project that was close to Taha's heart. Bank account details to come.

Once again, thank you for your support and love during Taha's journey and at this time of loss.

I have changed the closing date of this page to the maximum. We will continue to push forward with fundraising for Dad's treatment, for as long as we can.

  • Update from mum (Robyn)

      11 August 2021

Taha is continuing to do well while on the new treatment alongside continued chemo. He has virtually no side effects, just the occasional extra tiredness, sometimes a mouth ulcer or two, and extra pigmentation in his fingers and toes making his skin darker.

The scans he has had since starting the extra treatment have shown that the cancer is being kept from spreading and has reduced in size to some degree. We continue to live in hope.

We could not have reached this far without the generous giving of so many people. Whether a little or a lot, all gifts have been received with much gratitude and we are hugely humbled. We have enough money in reserve to pay for treatments through to about the middle of October. We continue to save and trust.

Thank you again, to everyone who has supported us in whatever way you've been able to. God bless you.

    Robyn Fasi

  • Update from mum

      16 May 2021

Taha has now had four sessions of his new treatment, with the fifth one this week, and is doing well. He has had no side effects from it and he also continues to cope with the ongoing chemo well.

The cancer has stabilised. There are no new tumors and a small reduction in the size of existing ones. This gives us hope and is worth celebrating!

We are so very grateful for all who have made it possible for his treatments to happen. There is enough in the kitty to pay for another 3 sessions so our fundraising efforts will continue.

May all who have supported us in ANY way be truly blessed as you have blessed us.

    – Robyn Fasi

  • Treatment started

      24 March 2021

Dad is having the first round of this treatment today. We've raised enough for him to have three months worth of fortnightly treatments, so again, thank you, so very much, for making this possible.

The cost per treatment goes down from here, but we still have a way to go to be able to cover a full 12 months' treatment.

    We believe we'll get there!

  • Treatment can start!

      16 March 2021

Thank you so very much to everyone who has supported us so far in our fundraising goal. We have managed to raise enough for dad to begin the treatment, which he will be starting hopefully next week.

We have been so humbled by the generosity of family, friends, work colleagues and complete strangers. Thank you from all of us – we are so, so grateful, and don't have enough words to truly express our thanks.

We still have a way to go to get a full 12 months of treatment, but we're heading in the right direction and are working on our fundraising strategy to get us there! This page will be active for a few months yet, so we do appreciate your sharing with your networks.

Please...can you tell me how are things going with Taha's treatment. Sorry I havent kept up-to-date on his progress, and it has been a while since my last contact. I thought of him today and was just wondering... Are you still accepting contributions? with warm regards, from Terongo Tekii.
