GAL reminded me it’s been 3 months since this fundraiser closed and an update to thank you all would be a nice thing to do. So here it is:

I will never have the words needed to thank you all sufficiently for your kindness and support through one of the hardest parts of my life, but you have all changed my life immeasurably. Thank you, I adore you, you’re all superheroes. 💛

  • Final update—D day is done

      12 November 2023

Well… The surgery went really well on Thursday. The sedation was absolutely 💯 the right decision as it made it so much more comfortable. The first couple of days were really rough, and I mostly just slept, but I’m getting better already and I’m surprised by how well I can talk already (although I don’t really want to talk much yet). I think I look quite different, but my family say they can’t see any change, so I guess this is Matrix-level “residual self image” stuff. 😂 It’s weird, and I’m still adjusting, but I’m hopeful, and the enforced healing rest is actually very good for me.

Thank you again, there are no words good enough to express how grateful I am for your support. 💜💜

I picked up my new teeth from Lucky at Dentocast today. They’re amazing. I have many emotions about them, but mostly I’m frustrated that I can’t try them in yet! 😂

Surgery at 9am on Thursday. Trying not to think about it really. Just keeping everything crossed this works.

  • Update from ACC

      31 October 2023

So the Accident Cover & Compensation agency that is supposed to support people who have experienced medical injuries will only give me $199.46 towards my dental sedation. It will cost me $1200. The system seems unnecessarily cruel and broken. I don't have the option of not having the sedation, my dental PTSD makes even simple procedures incredibly difficult, let alone extracting 16 teeth. Unfortunately, I'm not even surprised.

I saw my denture technician yesterday and got to approve my new teeth!! These are set in wax before he sets them in acrylic. Lucky at Dentocast in Newtown, Wellington is AMAZING. 🤩 I get to pick up the proper set on the 6th November.

  • Funds for dentures reached!

      27 October 2023

Oh my goodness! MASSIVE thanks to everyone who donated; I have raised enough to fund my dentures, and Givealittle have agreed to make an early payment so I can pay the bill straightaway. Thank you so, so much to everyone. I can’t believe it. I’m stunned and blessed. 💜

  • 2 weeks to go

      26 October 2023

Only 2 weeks to go until the extraction surgery. I feel like my remaining teeth know I plan to get rid of them as the pain has been truly awful this past week. I am scared but also hopeful that maybe I can be free of all this soon.

  • Surgery date

      18 October 2023

My dentist has confirmed that my surgery date to have the remaining teeth extracted under sedation is 9th November 2023.

    Only 3 weeks away. 😱

I have a lot of mixed feelings but I am mostly glad it is happening soon.
