Raising Funds to help the Bumblebots Compete in America
AquaBots is an international robotics programme, developed by the US Navy, in which participants design and build an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle.
On land, teams show off their engineering skills through technical papers and presentations. In the pool, they navigate their ROV through a series of obstacles inspired by the real world that test manoeuvrability, control, and utility.
The programme is highly applied and designed to equip youth with valued industry skills such as engineering, problem solving and working in teams. Participants have applied their experience to aquaculture, ocean donated research, aerial drone design and operation and even operating space craft in simulators.
In November 2023, the "Bumblebots” were crowned Primary School national champions and qualified for the 2024 International SeaPerch Challenge in Maryland, USA, In May/June 2024. Another layer of preparation is needed to compete at this level and so the team have been busy dedicating numerous hours to ensure they and their aquabot are ready to take on the World.
This is an incredible opportunity for the students but is expensive - all help for these budding engineers is much appreciated!
