The Frozen Ferns, NZ's national ice swimming team, need your help to get to the World Championships. Are you cool enough to help us?
Nationwide
The Frozen Ferns are Aotearoa New Zealand’s official ice swimming team, representing the country in this gruelling extreme sport.
A team of swimmers has qualified and been selected to represent New Zealand at the next World Championships in Romania (January 2027) and they need your help to get there! Funds raised will assist the team in paying for travel, accommodation, entry fees and equipment.
Ice Swimming is swimming in water of temperatures below 5°C/41°F, unassisted, with a silicone cap, pair of goggles and standard swimming costume. Wetsuits and other swim aids are not permitted – swimmers must brave the cold alone.
*A record-breaking team*
The past two Frozen Ferns teams (2023, 2025) have broken world records and showcased what New Zealand can do on the world stage. In 2025, the Frozen Ferns came fourth in the medal count, despite having one of the smallest teams.
The current team includes world record holders, age group record holders and para world record holders and they're ready to represent the country in thie gruelling sport.
Let's help them get there – and break more records as well as the ice!
