Support Siân and Kimberley During an Unexpected Medical Crisis Overseas

Siân, at just 21, set off in May for the overseas adventure she had dreamed of for years. Her parents, Kimberley and Lance, planned their 20th wedding anniversary trip to overlap with hers — a once‑in‑a‑lifetime family milestone.

Less than a month into her OE, everything changed. Siân became seriously ill while travelling in Italy and was admitted to hospital in Venice. She then travelled to Wales, where her condition worsened and she was admitted again. Kimberley flew over two weeks earlier than planned to be by her side, and Lance soon joined them.

Just as they tried to continue their travels together, Siân became unwell again and was rushed back into Swansea Hospital. Over the weekend, she underwent major surgery. Doctors have now confirmed she cannot fly for 6–8 weeks, leaving her OE on hold and her recovery dependent on remaining in Wales.

Lance must return home to keep their family business running, but Kimberley will stay with Siân until she is medically cleared to fly back to New Zealand. This means unexpected costs for accommodation, food, and last‑minute return flights — all while navigating travel insurance and travel agents who continue to put up exhausting hurdles.

Their family is stretched thin, emotionally and financially.
