Help to celebrate this momentous event & preserve part of Te Awamutu's history
Te Awamutu, Waikato
Just months after her Coronation, The Queen and Prince Philip visited New Zealand - they visited many small towns including Te Awamutu.
In March 2021 the Te Awamutu Community Board gave their approval to the creation of a plaque to commemorate the forthcoming Platinum Jubilee (the first in more than 1000 years) and the historic visit of our Sovereign in 1954, but in September 2021 they declined to fully-fund its creation.
What a celebration it would be if 110 years after the people of Te Awamutu honoured their King with a crowd-funded project, we could honour our Queen through this crowd-funded project.
You can learn more about the project here: https://www.teawamutunews.nz/2021/09/for-queen-and-te-awamutu/
As part of the Te Awamutu community I believe that we have to preserve our history - if we don't know where we come from we don't know who we are.
