Help Tomo get the crucial treatment he needs to survive

  • A message from Leslie

      18 December 2023

Viktor and I would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all of you who played a huge part in Tomo's life.

I am not very good at expressing how I feel, and I do hope that my simple words of appreciation convey how deeply thankful we are for your support through this journey.

I am writing with a heart full of gratitude for your presence at Tomo's memorial service, whether you attended at the Buddhist center or joined us virtually via Zoom.

Also, I want to extend my deepest thanks to each and every one of you who contributed financially through the "give a little" platform.

I had the privilege of speaking with Tomo just two weeks before his passing. In that conversation, I witnessed a remarkable shift in his spirit. It was evident that a heavy burden had been lifted from his shoulders, and he spoke with genuine appreciation for the support he had received.

Your contributions were not just monetary, but they were expressions of care that touched Tomo’s heart deeply.

Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for being there for Tomo and for being pillars of strength for each other during this difficult time.

    With sincere gratitude,

    Yu Ito

  • Tomo's update

      26 November 2023

    Dear Friends of Tomo,

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of Tomo's passing. Leslie reached out this morning to convey that Tomo peacefully left us just after 2 am.

Tomo had his first stem cell treatment on Friday. Leslie and Tomo celebrated the success of his first stem cell session and he rested peacefully that night. Unfortunately, last night his situation took an unexpected turn.

SGI President Daisaku Ikeda states: "There may be those who die young as a result of illness or accidents. But when viewed through the eyes of faith, we find profound significance in their death. Those who dedicate their lives to working for Kosen-rufu are Bodhisattvas of the Earth. They are followers of the Buddha. Life is eternal, and in light of the teaching of the Mystic Law, such people will absolutely attain Buddhahood."

Your tremendous support for Tomo and his family has been a source of strength throughout this journey. Your kindness, compassion, and presence have made a difference.

Funds will be released to Tomo's wife, Leslie Dubouzet, and will also be used to cover funeral costs in Japan, in the Philippines and in New Zealand as well as Leslie and Viktor's flight tickets back to the Philippines and New Zealand.

Once again, thank you for standing by Tomo's side and supporting his family during this challenging time.

    With heartfelt condolences,

    Yu Ito

  • Tomo's update

I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for your generous contribution to support Tomo in his courageous battle against cancer. Your kindness has truly made a difference.

Leslie, Tomo's wife, has made the decision to accompany Tomo to Japan, and they are currently there together with their son, Viktor. This has undoubtedly provided invaluable emotional support for Tomo during this challenging time.

Tomo is currently staying in a single room at the hospital, that costs 16,000 yen per night. Your donations have played a crucial role in ensuring that he has a comfortable and private space to focus on his recovery.

In terms of the Stem Cell Treatment, the family is actively exploring various clinics near Tomo's location to facilitate easier transportation. Once Tomo regains mobility, the treatment can commence promptly. Your contributions are directly contributing to making this treatment a reality for Tomo.

The road ahead is undoubtedly challenging, but with your support, the family is better equipped to face the obstacles that come their way. Your generosity is a source of strength and comfort for Tomo, Leslie, and Viktor during this difficult time.

Thank you once again for your compassionate contribution and for being a pillar of support for Tomo and his loved ones.
