Help us cure Finley from FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis)

  • We did it!

A few weeks ago Finley had some more blood drawn to asses his response to the FIP medication. A very anxious moment for us all!

The results showed remarkable improvement, phew!!! He has also completed 3 weeks of close observation and has been eating like a champ, playing lots and putting healthy weight on. We will still keep a close eye on the little guy and tend to his wounds, but for now we just wanted to celebrate this milestone and say thank you for all the support during this journey! It certainly hasn't been easy for us all, but seeing how happy and cuddly Finley is now, has made it all worth it.

We cannot thank you all enough for this. It means the world to us and we could not have done this without you. Thank you x

  • Countdown to the finish line!

We have reached day 77 of Finley's FIP treatment which means only 7 days to go! The moment of truth will be on Friday when we do a full set of bloods and see if his anaemia has improved as well as liver functions and blood proteins. As you can imagine, we are incredibly anxious about his bloods and hoping like crazy that they indicate a cure. If not, two more weeks of treatment may be needed at an approx cost of $800 for more vials. Nevertheless, it is pretty incredible that we have come this far. We wouldn't be here without your help and we cannot thank you enough for supporting us. Finley has been such a resilient and brave little boy every step of the way.

    Fingers crossed for Friday!

  • Halfway there!

It has been a while since we have updated you all on Finley's progress- apologies!

The last few weeks have been an absolute rollercoaster with good and bad days, but overall he is doing incredibly well, thanks to his life saving medication and your support. We are very happy to mark today as a success- we are halfway there!

Finley has put on a good 600 grams of weight, continues to eat A LOT and has more energy than the two of us humans combined. He plays endlessly, sleeps well and is establishing his dominant status within our little household.

Unfortunately this medication is known to cause localised skin reactions, and we've noticed two small wounds that we have been tending to carefully. Luckily Finley isn't too worried about these but he has a tendency to lick them, which is why we have given him a soft collar in the meantime. Once treatment has finished, these wounds should heal up well.

Overall, we are very proud of our little FIP fighter. Still a long 42 days to go but hitting the halfway mark is definitely a good excuse for some yummy cat treats and a wine or two for us :P

  • Day 3 update

Finley is up to his third injection today! His condition improved within a matter of hours after his first dose and he continues to surprise us everyday with how much he is progressing. This medication is incredible and is making such a difference to Finley's life. He is drinking water on his own for the first time in days, eating a lot of food, purring and playing fetch with all his fave toys. We wouldn't be in this position without the generosity and kindness of all his donors and people who we've met through the FIP community. Thank you for helping save his life team! We still have a long way to go and there will be ups and downs, but as long as the support continues we will get Finley the best chance at life :)

Finley's condition is getting much worse today :(. His coat is no longer shiny and his third eyelids are more apparent. However he is still eating. We are lucky enough to have sourced medication through a lovely lady in Auckland and we may have our first dose tonight! Just need to find a local vet to help guide us through our first dose.
