Our beautiful 11-year-old daughter, Melinke Visser, is fighting an aggressive and terminal brain cancer called Diffuse Midline Glioma (DMG).

Melinke has already endured radiation and countless medical treatments. For a while, we were given hope as her symptoms improved. But in April, her symptoms returned, and she has been declining each day. We are now facing another round of radiation and desperately searching for every possible option to keep our daughter with us.

One of those options is CAR-T cell therapy — an innovative treatment that may give Melinke another chance. Unfortunately, this treatment is not currently available to her in New Zealand, meaning we are looking at treatment opportunities overseas, including in the United States or China.

We are asking for your help because every donation could bring us one step closer to giving Melinke more time — more birthdays, Christmases, netball games, laughter and memories with her family.

If we are unable to reach our fundraising goal or if circumstances change and the funds are no longer required for Melinke’s treatment, any remaining funds will be donated to a cancer organisation to help support other families affected by childhood cancer.

❤️ A little update on Melinke ❤️ 24 September 2026

First, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has donated, shared, prayed, and supported our family so far. Every donation, no matter the amount, means more to us than we can put into words. You are helping us keep fighting for our beautiful girl. 🙏❤️

Sadly, things aren’t going so well at the moment. 💔

Melinke is becoming weaker and is now unable to eat or drink. All of her medication has had to be changed to liquid form, as she is struggling to swallow. She is currently receiving her nutrition through her feeding tube.

We are taking things one day at a time and holding onto every bit of hope we have. Her second round of radiation is starting September 28th, and we pray it will bring her some relief.

At the same time, we are still waiting to hear back from hospitals in the USA and China regarding potential treatment options, including the possibility of CAR-T cell therapy. We are desperately trying to find every possible option for our daughter.
