Our beautiful 11-year-old daughter, Melinke Visser, is fighting an aggressive and terminal brain cancer called Diffuse Midline Glioma (DMG).
Melinke has already endured radiation and countless medical treatments. For a while, we were given hope as her symptoms improved. But in April, her symptoms returned, and she has been declining each day. We are now facing another round of radiation and desperately searching for every possible option to keep our daughter with us.
One of those options is CAR-T cell therapy — an innovative treatment that may give Melinke another chance. Unfortunately, this treatment is not currently available to her in New Zealand, meaning we are looking at treatment opportunities overseas, including in the United States or China.
We are asking for your help because every donation could bring us one step closer to giving Melinke more time — more birthdays, Christmases, netball games, laughter and memories with her family.
If we are unable to reach our fundraising goal or if circumstances change and the funds are no longer required for Melinke’s treatment, any remaining funds will be donated to a cancer organisation to help support other families affected by childhood cancer.

Funds will help cover Melinke’s CAR-T treatment overseas, international flights, accommodation, medical consultations, medication, transport, food and living costs, visas, travel insurance, and other urgent and unexpected treatment-related expenses. ahead. 💛 Melinke’s Weekend Update – Making Memories 💛 18 October 2026
What a busy and special weekend for our girl! 🥰
On Saturday, we attended the Country Show Day, where Melinke enjoyed looking at all the different stalls and making her very own keychain. 🗝️✨ It was lovely to see her enjoying herself and taking in all the little things.
On Sunday night, we had the incredible opportunity to attend the Silver Ferns vs Australian Diamonds netball game! 🏐💚💛 The vibe was absolutely incredible, and the energy in the arena was something special! What an amazing experience for Melinke and our family. 🥹💛
With everything our girl has been going through, these moments mean more to us than words can explain. Every outing, every smile and every opportunity to make memories together is something we treasure deeply.
Life has changed so much since Melinke’s diagnosis, and we never take these moments for granted. We know that not every day is easy, which makes the good days and special experiences even more precious.
We are so grateful for the people who continue to show Melinke love, kindness and support, and for the opportunities that allow her to experience these beautiful moments. 💛🙏🏼
