Help Us Keep Fighting: Avastin for Dan

  • Avastin has begun: Thank you to everyone!

      7 May 2025

I have been terrible at doing this update thing. Life kept throwing some intense curveballs at us the past few months.

But - with this donation page closing soon, I really wanted to give an updatenon where things are at:

    1) Dan has now had 3 x Avastin treatements!!! And so far side effects have been manageable.

    2) He has restarted on a heavy chemo combo which he's tolerated really well but the side effects can be quite debilitating so it's day by day at times.

    3) His next CT should be in the next couple of months which will tell us how his body is responding to the new plan.

    4) We are still a bit off what we need to cover the entire year for Avastin, and we're hoping he won't need to drop too many round but we have a plan if needed.

We mostly just wanted to share how incredibly grateful we are to have had so much support lto make sure Dan can keep fighting.

He's an amazing man and we couldn't have gotten this far without you all.

Much love from us both 💜 xxx

    Rhiannon

  • Sometimes no news DOESN'T mean good news: Scan Results & an Unexpected Change...

      27 February 2025

Unfortunately the results of Dans CT showed continued tumor growth. But he was told that for now, things would continue as normal.

So it was a horrible surprise when 2 weeks later, at his next check up, he was told that they could no longer continue with the current plan as it was now deemed ineffective due to consistent growth. Chemo + Cetuximab booked for the following Monday was cancelled, another CT was booked and a meeting set for 27/02 to find out what happens next.

After Dan's appointment today, and yet more growth on the tumor from the CT last week, they've told him that he will need to move back to FOLFOX (chemo) & likely move to Avastin now too. We are still working out the details and as he's had to go back on a waitlist at the hospital, he likely won't restart chemo for another couple of weeks.

Dan started on FOLFOX originally and it is one of the heaviest and most intense chemotherapy combinations to be on. The side effects from this were quite debilitating so I'm feeling pretty nervous, but Dan keeps his head high and is getting himself ready to meet this new challenge head-on.

Thank you again to everyone so far, we are so incredibly grateful - please keep sharing the page as this move to Avastin has now become imminent and every little bit helps.💗

More updates to come as we find out more...

    Big love,

    Rhiannon & Dan

    Happy New Year everyone!

We managed to do our annual trip to the strawberry farm over Christmas and I'm now back at work while the kids have a few more weeks of holidays.

Dan and I want to thank everyone for the donations made so far. We are incredibly grateful.

Dan has his next CT this Wednesday. It may be a week or two before we get the results from this but will post another update when we know more in terms his treatement and wether there are any changes this round.

In the meantime, please keep sharing the page as much as possible with as many people as possible as every donation helps get Dan closer to the treatement he will need. Wether it be in a few weeks time, or later this year.

    Much love from us all

    Rhiannon xxx
