We use homegrown ingredients infused into each of our delicious liquor recipes; specializing in small batches and seasonal varieties
Upper Hutt, Wellington
We left the endless rat race of working in the United States to come to the calm, relaxed nature of New Zealand. Eventually, we bought a family home that included a varied orchard including many wonderful fruit trees and a flourishing garden. A friend showed us how to distill alcohol, and a hobby was born.
From there we explored different ways to mix our homemade alcohol (usually vodka, but sometimes other spirits) with ingredients grown on our own land. After numerous experiments in flavor, we shared some with friends and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Most folks tell us we should sell it. So now we've decided we'd like to do just that. We realized every time we talked about the alcohol-making journey, we were sharing stories with our friends and family. This is why we decided to call our business Storytime Spirits.
There are some pretty big hoops to jump through to make this business a reality. The biggest of which is making a commercial grade kitchen on our property where we can safely make and package our alcohol to sell to the public. We have the space - we need help to bring it up to code and pass inspection.
From there we are excited to share our spirits with New Zealand and the world.
“Every bottle has a story, share a story with every bottle”
1. Finish turning our cottage into a commercial kitchen to pass our first inspection from the council.
2. Help pay for our liquor license.
3. Kit out the new kitchen with workbenches, bottles, labels, measuring beakers, tubing, and storage.
