Help us lift and SAVE our beloved community hall out of harm's way and protect it for generations to come.
Omakere, Hawke's Bay Region
Help us lift our beloved community hall out of harm's way and protect it for generations to come.
The Omakere Community Hall is more than just a building—it is a beautiful piece of local history and the beating heart of our community. It’s where we gather, celebrate, and support one another.
However, the last five years have been tough. Our hall has been repeatedly battered by devastating floods, with Cyclone Gabrielle dealing a heavy blow.
The Good News ✨
Thanks to our insurers, the interior of the hall is undergoing a refurbishment. It will look beautiful and is ready to welcome people back soon.
The Challenge ⚠️
Here is the catch: because the hall sits at its original site, it cannot be insured for future flood events. We are just one big storm away from losing all of this hard work and history permanently.
To secure insurance and protect the hall, we have to physically raise the building above flood levels.
How You Can Help 🤝
Our community past and present are banding together to take action, but we cannot do it alone. We need to raise funds to lift the hall, secure its foundations, and keep it high and dry.
Every dollar raised goes directly toward the engineering and construction costs of raising the building. Whether you can give a little or a lot, your contribution helps save a priceless piece of heritage and ensures our Omakere Community still has a place to gather tomorrow.
Thank you for your generosity, your love for our community, and for helping us Raise our Omakere Hall!
Funds raised will go directly toward the engineering and construction costs to physically raise the Omakere Community Hall building 500–600mm. This crucial lift secures future insurance, keeping our historic community hub safe, high, and dry!
