Cyclone Tam tore the roof off Taipa Sailing Club. Help us raise funds to cover repairs and get our community sailing again!
Taipa, Northland
When Cyclone Tam swept through our community, it tore the roof off our beloved Taipa Sailing Club. Rain poured in, soaking the floors and damaging the walls — leaving our clubhouse unfit for use. While insurance will help, the excess is more than our small, volunteer-run club can afford. That’s why we’re reaching out to you.
For over 50 years, Taipa Sailing Club has been a place where locals come together to learn, grow, and connect through sailing. Hundreds of kids have had their first experience on the water with us — some have gone on to represent New Zealand on the world stage, while others have built lifelong careers around the sea. Whether it’s learning to sail, making new friends, or simply enjoying the beauty of Doubtless Bay, our club has always been about community.
Now, we need your help to get back on our feet. Your donation will go directly towards covering the insurance excess, with any extra going into rebuilding the clubhouse so we can continue offering affordable sailing in the Far North.
Every dollar brings us closer to raising the roof — literally — and getting our tamariki and whānau back on the water.
Thank you for keeping the spirit of Taipa Sailing Club alive.
Funds will cover the insurance excess to repair cyclone damage to our clubhouse—roof, floors, and walls. Any extra will go toward rebuilding and improving the space so we can keep offering affordable sailing to our community. Every bit helps!
