It is a festival that not only encourages our rainbow community but also invites the entire town to come together and celebrate diversity.
Queenstown, Otago
We are reaching out to you during a challenging time for our community. In a shocking and disheartening turn of events, approximately 30 Winter Pride-branded flags that proudly adorned Queenstown have been removed without authorization. These flags symbolized our commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and diverse environment for everyone who calls Queenstown home or visits our beautiful town.
The unauthorized removal of these Pride flags is more than just an act of vandalism. A painful reminder of the intolerance and prejudice that our community still faces, even in places like Queenstown, which is known for its welcoming spirit.
We need your help, each flag costs around $400 to produce, and with 30 flags needing to be remade, we're looking at a total cost of $12,000 to have the flags made urgently and installed. This is a significant expense, and we are turning to our incredible community and allies to help us replace these flags and continue to stand proudly against hate.
