We need your help to protect the open source MeshCore project!
International
MeshCore helps keep people connected when traditional networks such as WiFi, Cellular and Starlink go down. It allows you to build your own, inexpensive, long range mesh network that can be solar powered, and completely free from any monthly charges from service providers.
Founded in late 2024 by Scott Powell, our open source MeshCore project has grown into a thriving global network of more than 50,000 repeater nodes and 100,000 users across our mobile apps.
We are committed to keeping our core firmware free, and open source.
Unfortunately, a former team member has secretly filed for trademarks on the MeshCore name and has launched a closed source, for profit version built on top of ours. Every effort we've made had led to no resolution, leaving us no choice but to pursue legal opposition.
We have already personally spent $15,000 on counter filings, but we face an additional $18,000 USD in legal fees to fight this in court. As a part time, underfunded team, we're seeking the community's help.
Every dollar raised goes directly toward our legal defence. In the event the challenge becomes unviable, 100% of the funds will pool into our GitHub Sponsors fund for community bug bounties and open development.
As we're limited on word count, please see our full blog post for more in depth information about our legal dispute.
Please donate today to help protect our project.
Note: crowdfunding campaign is listed in NZD, however our legal costs are in GBP/USD.
