Help Wendy finish her journey

  • Amazing News!

      6 March 2022

Wendy has had 2 cycles of her INFINZI. And is doing well, her latest CT Scan showed good results and her Radiotherapist and Oncologist are very pleased.

We have even more good news! Wendy has now been funded! that's right INFINZI is going to be a fully funded drug by Pharmac in August and have agreed to bridge her meds till then. This is why we have dropped the total for her funding as we have gone from over 100k down to just over 40k for the 2 cycles we have already paid for. Thank you all so very much for your generosity so far, and now that we are faced with a much more realistic amount we are confident we may get way close to our goal.

  • Treatment Has Started

      30 January 2022

Hi all just letting you all know that Wendy has now had her first round of immuno. So far so good, no obvious side effects as yet fingers crossed. Also just want to let you all know she is not actually getting "Keytruda" as we were first informed and is now on a immunotherapy drug called "IMFINZI® (durvalumab)". Her treatment is now once every 4 weeks, but the cost is $18,800.00 per treatment she will be needing 12 cycles. While the cost is way more than "Keytruda " it is a drug made specifically to treat Lung Cancer....and hopefully by August Pharmac will be fully funding this particular drug, which means we won't have to find over $200,000 to fund it. You can check out what "INFINZI" is and how it works by going to the following link. https://www.imfinzi.com/stage-3-nsclc/about/what-is-imfinzi.html

  • Nearlly There! sort of.

      1 January 2022

Hi all you awesome generous people, we are so so close to having enough for Wendy's first treatment! And we finally got to see one of our Boys and his Partner after over six months! They were very good and both got PCR tests before coming to visit, they are both fully vaxxed but wanted to be sure and take no chances while Wendy's immune system is so compromised. Good On Them I say! Anyway thanks again for al your awesome support, just keep sharing as much as you can that would be fatastic.

  • Extremely grateful!

Wendy managed a small walk today with myself and Molly, our sweet little Bedlington Terrier. We are so overwhelmed with the amount of donations over the past few days and thank you all so so much. I started thanking people as each donation came in, but am struggling to keep up so hopefully most of you opted in to receive updates from the page and will see this.

Wendy is slowly getting her strength back day by day, she will be returning to Waikato Hospital on the 23rd of December for an operation on her teeth as she needs to have 5 of them removed due to the aggressive Chemo treatment that has caused them to disengage from her jaw. So not much of a Christmas feast this year just smoothies, ice-cream and yogurt. We still have a way to go but are getting closer to having enough money for her first round of treatment which is awesome. all thanks to you wonderful people.
