Support Zealandia to keep Wellington’s wildlife flourishing
The birdlife you love needs your support to keep it protected and thriving during the COVID-19 crisis.Wellington
Over the past 25 years Zealandia has transformed Wellington’s birdlife from virtual silence to a symphony of tuī, kākā and pīwakawaka/fantails. Your urgent support is needed to continue Zealandia’s work and protect Wellington’s wildlife.
Right now, Zealandia faces unprecedented challenges. Most of the revenue that keeps the sanctuary running comes from visitors and supporters, and COVID-19 stopped international and local visitors almost overnight.
Even when there are no visitors, the vital work of maintaining a sanctuary continues. The predator-proof fence that keeps out rats and other pests must be checked and maintained, the wildlife protected and fed, conservation and education programmes continued.
You can help. Every dollar you give goes directly to the conservation and welfare of New Zealand’s most valuable taonga – our wildlife.
Wellingtonians have been thrilled by the incredible backyard birdlife that has brought daily joy to our lockdown lives. Much of that birdlife simply would not be here without Zealandia. Zealandia’s 225 hectare fenced sanctuary and skilled team of conservation professionals provide a safe and nourishing environment for some of our most threatened native species.
By making a gift at this difficult time you are directly contributing to a nature-rich world where people value and cherish the wildlife around them.
Nature never stops, and neither do Zealandia’s committed team. Please, help by donating now.
ZEALANDIA (Karori Sanctuary Trust) is a not-for-profit community-led organisation. The Trust’s official vision is to be a world-class conservation site portraying our natural heritage that captures people’s imagination, understanding and commitment.
