Save the last remaining building linked to US Marines stationed in NZ during WWII and also help return this same hall back to its community

Wellington

The Save Our Hall working group is a community response and wants to save, repair and return to use the historic hall in Titahi Bay. This hall has strong historic value, being the last remaining building linked to the US Marines stationed in NZ during WWII. From the 1950's it has been the community hall in Titahi Bay and the venue for movies, dances and sports events. Over the years there have been community working bees which helped keep the hall in good shape (our profile picture). The hall has been the home and performance centre for Porirua Little Theatre with more than 500 productions. The Porirua City Council stopped maintaining the hall and then argued it should be demolished when repairs were needed. The Titahi Bay community have responded to the council's desire to demolish the hall with a resounding NO. The working group have a business plan, and a fundraising plan plus volunteers to repair and get the hall back in use. This page is part of the project to Save Our Hall
