Jade fundraised4cancer..now has it.

  • No more treatment needed at this stage

      6 August 2015

Hi all We went to Jades first oncology appointment after his surgery and for the first time in 5 months no more treatment is needed at this stage.

Jade still has awhile to go for full recovery and hope he can eventually ditch his crutch for walking.

But it is a great relief for us all.

He gets a break of 3months before next hospital appointment which is so great for us all.

Thankyou once again for all the fantastic support. Both through this sight and off it.

We have tried a few different types of healing and have even said a few prayers which is not a usual thing in our household. Although we are aware a number of other people have been praying for him, including....A Parish of priests.

As I'm sure all you parents can understand. It has been a hard road watching your child no mater how old ,so sick and struggling.

Jades results came back and there was cancer debry from the tumor the chemo was aiming for plus a cancerous tumor removed and appendix and 4 lymph nodes. These lymph nodes came back clear which is great.

  • Successful surgery

      10 July 2015

Jades surgery went for 10 hours and he is now in H.D.U. He is stable.

There were no major bleeds and kidneys and spleen were able to be left.

He is minus his tumor YAY. And his appendix which was inflamed.

We very relieved, the team are just working on making him comfortable.

He has the shakes but we are hoping this will pass.

The surgeon was very happy with procedure and said it was made up of two ones. One that was mainly scar tissue which was delt with by chemo, the other attached to it was a benine growing tumor that doesn't spread. He got the whole lot out in tact, we get those results in 2weeks.

Thankyou all for your positive thoughts and support.

  • Surgey is happening 9th july

      6 July 2015

Surgey is booked for this Thursday 9th july.

It is expected to take all day starting at 7am 8-15hours

We are all as prepared at this stage as we can be.

Jade is rapt he now has enough money to pay off his loan for his computer. Thank you all.

His computer is his pride and joy as his friends will agree, its also great for him to still enjoy the company of his friends down south through skyping and yes even gaming.

We would also like to say a big thankyou to Shinade from Countdown Motueka for organizing sausage sizzle etc.

We are so very grateful for everyones contribution, words of support, and sometimes just an ear.

It all has been a great help so far.

I would also like to say to all those young guys out there this is a common cancer in the 20 yr and 60yr age group. It is also very common for cancer to not be seriously considerd in the young guys. If you feel unwell and don't get

taken seriously by a gp please don't stop looking for a doctor that listens.

This surgery could have been avoided if caught early enough.

    love to you all.

  • Had meeting with surgeon

      16 June 2015

We had meeting with surgeon last week and things are a bit more scary. Surgery has been classified as major. It will be 5 to 15 hours long at this point it is penciled in for the 9th July.

We asked what risks were involved and there are lots, his tumor has not got smaller since the last scan, we are hopeful it is dead scar tissue but it is still to big to leave.

It is sitting between his aorta and renal vein but wrapped around his renal vein. He also couldn't find the end of the pancreas and beginning of tumor. They could possibly take a kidney and his spleen,as well as damage to lots of other things which would mean more surgery to follow.

We have had a week to get our head around it all before posting this.

Although it all sounds scary we are focusing on these risks being a possibility that might not happen and helping Jade gather strength for this next step.

The radiology team will have a meeting and then we have another meeting with surgeon and pre op next week.

please keep support coming it does not have to be $ words a great to.

Jade enjoys hearing from you all.
