My sister Kirsten Stacey and her kids need help! She has been battling cancer for a long time and things are getting desperate.
Bay of Plenty
5 years ago, my little sister, was diagnosed with cervical cancer. She promptly had a full hysterectomy followed by chemo. 18 months later the cancer was back, it had spread and it was very aggressive. The Doctors gave her a year to live. Her kids were too little, so she fought hard! Many rounds of chemo and radiation followed and bought her 2 more years.
I can't believe how brave and strong Kirsten is. How she can keep coping as a single mum, with her illness and 3 active kids is worrying me. She needs help! She has always been so proud and self sufficient, a dedicated doc camper, a great mum and sister, funny, caring, non judgemental and hardworking. Cleverer than she realises. A great contributor to Katikati school and sports activities, even now.
It breaks my heart to think of life without Kirsten and can hardly imagine how the kids are going to cope. But we can help! The years or treatments and associated travel has caused financial strain, stress and worry that they could do without.
Kirsten is my little sister and I have to try and do everything I can think of to help her and my nephews and niece.
Funds raised will be used to help pay for travel to medical appointments and reduce the stress of financial worries at this terrible time. It will also go towards funeral and memorial costs later and hopefully some left over to help the kids after.
An ending and a beginning. 22 August 2017
On Saturday the 12th of August Kirsten Marie Stacey passed away. She's now at rest after a hard fought 5 year battle with Cancer. She grew her kids up as much as she could and now it's up to the family and friends to take over.
She was greatly respected and loved by her family and friends and in her community as a person, a mum and supporter of Katikati schools, football and a 2nd mum to many local teens. She has left a giant hole in our hearts.
Thank you again to everyone who has donated for Kirsten and the kids. I will close the page as af the end of September. I also have to change the recipient bank details to my own as the bank has frozen her Account. I will use the rest of the money to help set up the kids in their new homes and ease some of the pain at this time. Thank you.
