  • New diagnosis

    Hello everyone .

    Yesterday we have received from clinic Rechts Der Isar Maks's new diagnosis based on the two checking :

    1. Neurosurgical department of clinic Rechts der Isar

    2. Heileberg University Medical centre

    The exact current diagnosis is

    Diffuse midline glioma H3K27M mutant

    This is IV grade aggressive glioma , 1 case for million .

    We are still full of optimism and Maks is a real fighter !!!

  • We are back to New Zealand

    Hello everyone.

    We have returned after surgery in Munich to New Zealand on 24th October.

    The German doctor’s opinion for Max’s case is ‘’ wait and see ‘’ until the next MRI scan, which should be done in December.

    German oncologists want to take their time to be sure of the correct treatment. At the moment they’re very confused as what to do next and what treatment to give Max. Even in Germany they told us that Max’s case is very rare.

    The next treatment Max requires is Temodal , they said. But we haven’t been given the specific dosage amount. We’re waiting until the next MRI.

    Back in New Zealand and Max has already returned to the Hospital, 1 day after our arrival. He had additional surgery for infection in the the wound.

    Now he’s home, and awaiting on yet another surgery for his eye - blepharorrhaphy.

    Because his left eye cannot close completely he has created a concern with the doctors and that is why they decided to do the blepharrhaphy.

    Hello everyone .

    Thank you all of you for your donations , for your support . We are so thankful to you .

    Here are our new:

    The surgery has done on 20th September .

    The biopsy showed the 4th grade of brain cancer. It is a new type of Glioblastoma entered into cancer registry only last year. It is caused by cell mutation. Even in Germany it is absolutely rare case.

    Molecular genetic examination should be ready in 1 week and I hope after that we will get the right treatment.

    The treatment is planned to be done in NZ but under close control of doctors from Munich.

    At the moment Max has a problem with his left eye. It doesn't close completely and is at a risk to catch infection . He has dizziness and double vision and his facial nerve is still very weak .

    A Big Thanks for your huge support, for your empathy, for your real help.

    Still there are a lot of things necessary for us to endure: the operation, to pray that it is successful, for Maks's recovery after it.

    You are people with a hearts of gold! God grant to all of you good health, to your children, to your parents. Good luck to you in everything you do! And may God bless you for your charity in being part of such a good deed.

    You became for us part of our family even though we didn't meet you.

  • We got estimate cost from the Munich clinic .

    We are very thankful to everyone who are helping us .

    From the bottom of my heart I am so grateful to all of you .

    We can now set our goal amount as we have received the estimated costs from the clinic. Our goal amount includes the general hospitalisation costs, the surgical fees, the accommodation fees post operation, other miscellaneous costs for X-rays, MRI scans and laboratory tests. Added to that will be the airfares to and from Munich. So the approximate total costs rounds out at $NZ90 000

    We have got invitation from the clinic in Munich.

    The appointment is at 13 September 2017 .

    So , next our step book a flight and obtain a visa . And arrange accommodation for me . I am going with my son of course .

    We still have not appox. costs. We are expecting to receive it soon.

    We are full of hope that with your help we can do that treatment .

      I have talked rto Maks about this, today, and he is very enthusiastic and positive. So am I. So too are all the present and future donors to Maks' get well account. We are all right behind you Maks, my dear friend.

    We have been in contact with the professor of neurosurgery clinic Dr. Meyer.

    Once we have an appointment time , we will also get an approximate cost for the surgery and all necessary tests.

    I will update my page when the all information is available.
