  • Current condition

      25 August 2016

Thank you everyone for your generosity... Uncle Raymond is back at home though with evident muscle wasting, big scars on his tummy due to 3x surgery within a month and a peg tube he is recovering slowly from his extensive gastric ulcers and complications. He is still experiencing problem as the feeding that was introduced triggered the increase in uric acid in his system and because he can not take any NSAIDs so he is left with the pain and is struggling to mobilize. With continues medications and therapy we ask for your extended help and prayers thank you very much.

  • Update from Raymond's eldest son

      25 July 2016

Good morning! So sorry for not updating this page sooner as we have been all focused on getting Dad stable. I know most of you are waiting for the latest news on him. We are so grateful for your continued support and prayers. As most of you may already know Dad was discharged last July 15 but was readmitted on July 17 due to fever and low hemoglobin levels. He was give a transfusion of blood and what was thought to be a stable road to recovery with the transfusion of blood (4 bags) came to a halt when he vomited blood last July 21. He was scheduled for endoscopy to address the issue but his blood pressure dropped. There was no option but for him to go into operation. They checked the site of the 1st operation but it was healing very well. They cut throufh his stomach and found extensive ulcers there any one of which can cause bleeding. They isolated the are of bleeding in the upper part near his esophagus. There was a point they considered Gastrectomy but ruled it out because Dad's heart would not be able to take it. So they did a temporizing procedure cauterizing the area and praying that it would be sufficient to address the bleeding. They did not leave the operating room until the all areas were patched. It took almost 7 hours.

As of today July 24 Dad is still in ICU but he is recovering. Hemoglobin is still below normal but stabilizing. He is still under antibiotics beacuse of his above average White Blood Cell count. His gout is starting to subside and he can move his legs now. The challenge now is to get him the needed nutrition of his body since he cannot take food orally just through a tube directly connected to his stomach.

We are now again knocking on your good hearts. Financial support would be a big help as we are still recovering from his previous operation. Any information and help in facilitating a transfer to PGH is also appreciated and of course continued prayers for his speedy recovery. Thank you. God Bless you all.

  • Second operation and current update on his condition

      8 July 2016

Yesterday Raymond had another surgery to fix the operative site. He had wound dehiscence which was caused by infection. He is stable now and is back to the ward.

However his heart was weak and will be needing treatment and management once he has fully recover from the surgery, still on Total Parenteral Nutrition and ongoing antibiotics.

Please continue to pray for complete healing and provisions, Raymond and his family are just taking all these day by day and we know how stressful it can be.

      1 July 2016

Raymond is now extubated and out of ICU, however still couldn't eat and drink mainly dependent on TPN (total parenteral nutrition), has medications ongoing and kept in the hospital for further evaluation. Due to the damage done by the gastric fluid he would need several specialists to monitor his condition. There is improvement in his breathing as well but Pneumonia complicates his condition. Prayers are also needed as currently he is showing signs that kidneys might be compromised as well as per recent blood tests.

Since Philippines has no subsidised healthcare program Raymond's Surgery Fee will be handled by the family and on top of it is the on going TPN, IV Medications, Doctor's professional fees, Hospitalization and other misc. they will be needing any amount anyone could donate. Thank you very much.
