I am seeking help to raise funds for my tour, at the beginning of next year 2018. It is a huge cause, organised by United nations NZ.
Auckland
I am lucky to have been selected to represent NZ as a Youth Ambassador for the United Nations Global Development tour 2018.
This tour is the next phase of the MDG - Millennium Development Goals (2010-2015) which has informed the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 - 17 goals to transform our world.
We are getting to see how these goals are being furthered in seven different countries from New York to Rome over 29 days. Countries around the world have adopted a set of goals to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all as part of a new sustainable development agenda. Each goal has specific targets to be achieved over the next 15 years.
My world view is what helped me to be chosen as a Youth Ambassador. I shared that Aotearoa is a first world country that continues to face challenges in ensuring equitable outcomes for all, as a Māori, Samoan male I have a sense of what this looks like for our most vulnerable - our indigenous peoples. I am excited by the prospect of being able to see what other nations are doing - learning and sharing with other like minded individuals about what we can do to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all.
All funds raised will go towards the cost of my tour, which is $8,200. This includes my flights, accommodation, food and activities.
