Please help us cover the cost of leg amputation after our cats foot was caught in a possom trap for 4 weeks.
Otago
Four weeks ago my daughters 1 year old cat went missing. He turned up last night in the rain with his very dead leg and attached possom trap stuck under our gate, 5m from the cat flap. Severely dehydrated and starving with dead mangled leg and crushed foot he was taken to an emergency vet who assessed he was extremely determined and lucky to be alive were it not for the maggots that had kept his horrific foot wound clean. He needs to undergo surgery to amputate his leg as the damage is so bad. He is an extremely loving and gentle cat who has lived a torturous 4weeks. Adopted from the SPCA a year ago with his sister he had become a very much loved member of our house. A therapy cat for my daughter and beautiful, loving and charming character in his own right. His suffering and injuries over the last 4 weeks are horrific and unspeakable, not to mention the grief caused to all, in particular my 12 year old daughter. Loosing a leg from a car accident can be justified but the suffering of a cat in an unchecked trap in a built up area is disgusting and heart wrenching. Any donations would be very greatly received to cover the costs of surgery to enable Toby to live a comfortable, loving and fulfilling life.
Thank you so much.
