HOME BASE: Help Base find a new Space

    Our 1 month Givealittle cause is now closed.

    We would like to take this opportunity to send out a massive and heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who generously dipped into their own pockets and donated towards the relocation of the station.

    We received an overwhelming $12,000 towards the $16K target, and are still receiving offers to help with the build, messages of support and kind words of encouragement for Base.

    Due to your of your support, Base will now be migrating to our new location above Portland Public House in Kingsland, with the we aim to be broadcasting from our new studio at the start of December.

    While the technical issues are still being worked out, this opportunity allows us to look at increasing the quality of our digital audio quality for both Freeview nationwide and online stream, and the potential to expand our coverage via FM as well.

    We honour your ongoing support by keeping true to ourselves and we'll keep doing what we do, the best way we know how!

    The big move is happening! We have technicians climbing onto roofs, new equipment getting installed up on the Sky Tower, STL links getting created to multiple transmitters... It's all very serious business but we are working on it! The goal is to NOT only moving our studio but getting a WIDER broadcasting range and BETTER audio quality into your homes / cars / computers & phones.

    Help us reach our $16k target and Givealittle, if you can. The move will cost over $25k and I need any support I can possibly get. I don't like to ask for help but in this instance it's about the bigger picture, so on behalf of my baby, Base FM, and my people, please DONATE. You only have till THIS FRIDAY!

  • Technical costs breakdown

    Here's a detailed breakdown of costs from our Technician. It's a total of $12k alone and does NOT include any fees for Kordia / Freeview / Digital Radio, sound-proofing or building work.

    Base FM Relocation Portland House Building – Kingsland.

    The Portland house location is a significant drop in height from the current transmitter location, in order to maintain existing coverage and improve coverage in Kingsland which is currently degraded by another operator, a second transmitter is suggested for the Kingsland area while maintaining the existing transmitter location on Ponsonby ridge. These costs will be additional to moving the studio and the current infrastructure listed separately.

    This scenario will require the following equipment, listed in the attached spreadsheet.

  • Breaking News - New SPACE for BASE CONFIRMED

    We haven't made this public yet but you as our donors, deserve to hear it first...

    It was only decided yesterday but we are absolutely stoked to confirm that we have found a new HOME. It's not just any home either but upstairs from Portland Public House Bar & Restaurant, just over in Kingsland.

    It is one of the few bars left with character and soul. You will hear the DJs blasting out our sound onto New North Road and you can come and hang out with us at our new local in the evenings. Way more social than our old spot! We are excited!

    We still haven't reached our target though, so if you can, keep donating - very dollar helps! It's crunch time now!

  • Potential new space found -Target raised to $16,000

    Exciting News,

    We might have found our new HOME!

    However, the building needs a lot more work then originally expected. And extra equipment & transmitters need to be build as well.

    But the rent is cheap and the location is good, too.

    It's all about the long-term plan of broadcasting further and keeping our INDEPENDENCE.

    Onwards and upwards, always.

    Please keep supporting the cause and community radio, where you can. We are endlessly grateful and are already planning a special event to celebrate with you guys, once we've completed this mission.

    Our man HOUSE SHOES (Street Corner Music, LA) stopped by the Base FM studio with a message of support for our Givealittle campaign.

    Please keep helping us spread the word and fundraise. Every little bit helps.

    We brought House Shoes over to NZ two years ago to play our Base FM Boat Party. He has been a good friend of the station ever since.

    Base FM will also start syndicating Shoes' radio show, so listen out for it on our Base FM airwaves.
