Update
14 December 2016A HUGE thank you!
Dearest Friends,
As this page is coming to a close we want to take this special opportunity to thank everyone for the amazing love and support we have received since Caroline's illness in May.
We are truly humbled and grateful by the countless words of encouragement and prayers, and the generous donations made by friends, family and strangers across New Zealand and Australia. We have been truly blessed. Thank you!
Caroline underwent her chemotherapy and stem cell transplant at Starship hospital (who were absolutely fantastic) mid September. We are very grateful for the kind selfless caring anonymous person overseas who donated his bone marrow. We are also so grateful and thankful to the many NZ blood donors who kept Caroline alive with blood and platelet transfusions, with having 45 transfusions over the 5 months. She spent 12 weeks in Auckland for the treatment and now is able to make her own blood cells. She is still in the early recovery stage of many months of close monitoring which can still be like a roller coaster at times. She still requires some further treatment with the help of the donor and at this stage we are still travelling to Auckland frequently as well as regular visits to Dunedin hospital (who have also been amazing). Thank you to the amazing Ronald McDonald house both in Auckland and Christchurch which are incredible places that became a home away from home at this difficult time and eased the burden for us.
It has been a challenging time for us as a family but we couldn't have done it without any of you. Even those we don't know, we feel honoured that you care.
We would like to thank the East Taieri School community and principal Jennifer Horgan for helping us by initiating this fundraiser which has made a world of difference to us.
We would also like to thank Caroline's friends some who visited while in Auckland and for all the beautiful cards and gifts sent to her and for our work places and church family, you are all amazing people.
Heartfelt thanks to you all.
Caroline and family
