Help Eliza Get Back On Her Feet

  • Success! I have got the Exosym

    Hi all,

Just a last update to let you know I have just returned from Seattle, where I got the Exosym made and fitted for me. It has been a big success and I am now learning to use it properly. It will be some months of training before I can reach it's full potential (lots of technique to learn). See photo snapshot of my first run attempt, on my first week of using it!

The Exosym is going to open up many new exciting opportunities for me; such as travel, mobility abilities and job options. Thank you so much for your contribution, without your help this would not have been possible for me.

  • Seattle Dates Booked!

      13 February 2022

    Hi all,

Quick, exciting update to say I have finally managed to book tickets to Seattle in June this year to get the Exosym device for my ankle! I will be at the Hanger clinic (in Seattle) most of June getting the device made/fitted/adjusted and testing it out. I'm very grateful for all of the support I have received so far, and I wouldn't be in this position without it. I will be doing all I can in the coming months to raise the final sum needed to make the trip possible in June. Thank you very much for your contribution, I really appreciate it.

  • Update on Exosym

      17 November 2021

Quick update to say that I am extending the deadline on the closure of this page, due to pandemic-related delays and cost-increases unfortunately making Seattle/Exosym too difficult to achieve this year (MIQ + flight cost increases). I am hoping next year I will be able to finally get to Seattle for the Exosym! Thanks for all your support.

  • Extending Deadline for my Givealittle

      17 November 2020

    Hi all,

Just a quick update to say that I am recovering well from surgery and I'm aiming to get the Exosym device as soon as I can - just having to wait for Covid to settle down, before I travel to America! Due to this, I am extending the page deadline until end of 2021.

  • Surgery Complete! Next step, Seattle.

      3 June 2020

Another quick update to let you know I am a step closer to getting the Exosym brace!

I am currently in hospital after having surgery on my ankle yesterday, to adjust the angle of my foot (which will help me get more out of the Exosym). I had an arthroscopic scope (removing bone from front of ankle) and my Achilles tendon lengthened (by cutting up the tendon).

Surgery went well, although I won't be able to recognize how successful it was, until after some months of recovery. Next step is to go get the Exosym in Seattle - once travel restrictions have lifted! Thanks for your help getting me there. :)

      Hi Eliza

Good to hear how you are doing and that the surgery went well - I hope you are not in too much pain. I have so much admiration for you going through this and still managing to reach out to us.

      Keeping you in my thoughts.

      Love

      Janet

  • Update On My Progress

      7 May 2020

Thank you to everyone who has supported me so far. I thought I would do a quick update on where I'm at: due to the pandemic there have been some delays on my progress, but all will be going ahead as soon as possible.

I've opted for a different surgery (instead of the Fusion surgery as originally planned, I'm having a scope and tendon lengthening procedure done) which will hopefully help put my foot at a better angle. I'm on the waiting list, and surgery could be as soon as early next month.

As soon as I am recovered from surgery, international travel is back up and running and I have saved enough, I will go to Seattle and obtain the Exosym device.

I really appreciate all the support, thank you. :)
