Help My Mum, Freda Whiu-Hemara, Fight Cancer
Whangarei, Northland
My beautiful mum, Freda Whiu-Hemara, is currently fighting cancer, and our family is doing everything we can to support her through this incredibly difficult journey.
Mum is facing a challenging road at the moment with treatment, and the physical, emotional and financial pressures that come with cancer. She has always been someone who puts her whānau first, and now it's our turn to put her first.
I am asking for support to help fundraise for medication that is needed for post chemotherapy, which is known as Ivosidenib. Unfortunately Ivosidenib isn't government funded and has an annual cost of $62,400 which is an unrealistic cost for our family alone to afford.
Any donation, no matter how big or small, will make a meaningful difference. If you're unable to donate sharing this page with friends and whānau would mean just as much to us.
From the bottom of our hearts, Ngā mihi nui for all your aroha and support, and generosity as Mum fights this battle.

The money will go towards an oral, targeted prescription medicine that inhibits mutant isocitrate dehydrogenase-1 (IDH1) enzymes. It is used to treat adults with specific IDH1-mutated cancers. Mums specific cancer is call Cholangiocarcinoma.
