Boydy has Stomach Cancer. His wife Angie and his two beautiful daughters Skyler and Brooklyn are keeping vigil over him at Hospital.

Bay of Plenty

***Update-Wow!! Just WOW. Thanks everyone for your unbelievable generosity in helping out the Wikeepa family with donations. On behalf of Boydy,Angie, Skyler and Brooklyn we say a huge THANK YOU. This has been such an uplifting time for Boydy when he needs it the most and to see how much strength he gets from all the love from everyone is so heartwarming xxx

To the staff at Whakatane Hospital you are all simply THE BEST. Angie and Boydy cannot express enough the gratitude they feel to each and every one of you. You have been tireless in your work and always with a smile on your faces and compassion in your hearts. Thank you so much.

3 weeks ago Boydy got the devastating news that he had a rare form of aggressive Stomach Cancer. This is a long and tragic story that can not be explained in just a few paragraphs, but last Friday his wife Angie and their two daughters flew in from the USA to see him again. But they are now 'living' in an adjacent room from Boydy at Whakatane Hospital and eating sporadically off the hospital menu and nearby eateries. They have no transport while in NZ and are relying heavily on family and friends. They are proud people and will not let on that they are in need of help. Please donate so we can take the stress away from Angie and let her and the girls enjoy some precious time with Boydy

Geoff Alley's involvement (page creator)

I played rugby and studied with Boydy at Palmer College in the USA in the late 1990s and we formed a strong friendship between us all including his wife Angie and my wife Kelly. As fellow 'Kiwis' living in the USA at the time we were all very close.

Use of funds

100% of the funds will go to fund Angie and the girls while in New Zealand. This will cover their food, accommodation and travel as they have no car and are relying heavily on Boydys family to help them out.

Angie, when I heard Boydy was sick I wanted to reach out - I’m not sure why I didn’t and I would have told him what I wish to tell you - Boydy was a wonderful man, loving and caring and always thoughtful of those around him. In the bars at Palmer even at his most laughingly crazy, he would always keep one eye on the needs of those who may need something. On the field, he was a leader, with quiet power, and amazing strength of character. And as a husband and father, while I only got to see the beginning of that stage of your life together, he was gentle and caring. He was a gentleman. I wish for you and the girls to know that across the world there are families and friends and players and people of all types mourning with you, and wishing you well. I pray for him to have safe delivery to the next phase, to watch over you always. I don’t know what we can do from Boston, but please know there have always been wonderful memories in my past about you both, and there is always a place in our homes for you and yours. Sincerely, Nico Afanasenko drnico@freshstartchiro.com Palmer 01
