Helping hand for Kiwi Keralites who lost dear once and property in unprecedented floods in Kerala (South Indian State)

The state of Kerala in India, popularly known as "God's Own Country", is currently under a state of emergency due to an unprecedented widespread flood. This once in a century more than 2-week long flood accompanied by non-stop heavy rains have already taken 150 plus lives including small children.

More than 2 million people are displaced. Hundreds of thousands have lost their home, belongings and are now living in temporary shelters. Many of them have lost their immediate family members and friends. Several are still trapped on the rooftops without food & drinking water supplies. 10 out of 14 districts in Kerala are affected severely and are on red alert.

Total estimated damage as of 19th August is Rs.19,500 Crores (NZD 4.33 Billion). This will only rise in the coming days since its still raining and flood waters are yet to recede.

I am launching this fundraising to assist our fellow kiwis with property and families in Kerala who have been severely impacted. Kiwi Malayalees is a community estimated to be more than 10,000 in strength in New Zealand. Request you to be the helping hand for the families of our friends who have lost their loved ones. And assist the families of Kiwi Malayalees who have experienced property destruction.

Please contribute even the smallest possible amount and I/We will personally make sure that 100% of it gets to our fellow Kiwi Keralities. We will save proof of transfer of this fund to those needy.

Due to the death of my uncle, I’m going to India in 2 days. If anybody wants to donate anything to the NGOs (Non-profit organization) working for the Kerala flood relief located in Kochi, I can take it to them.

Please Note: All fund mobilised and provided to Ambi and others would be made sure to be provided to the family of deceased and those having faced property destruction.
