Helping Our Whānau Grow Through Adoption

Kia ora, we are Rach and Ali, and we are reaching out for financial awhi due to unexpected costs introduced at the final stage of our international adoption journey. Adoption has always been the path we felt called to as a couple. Over the past 8+ years we have worked steadily through assessments, approvals, and extensive documentation, and are incredibly grateful to now be pre-matched with a child in Thailand.

We have personally covered the majority of adoption costs to date & planned carefully based on the info provided at each stage.

However, recently we were advised of new requirements, resulting in additional expenses beyond what we have prepared for.

These changes and new costs include:

• A required extension of our stay in Thailand from an originally advised 10 days to 3–4 weeks, covering additional accommodation & living costs.

• Accommodation in two locations within Thailand, along with required domestic travel during placement.

As both of us are self-employed, meaning time overseas is unpaid. The extended stay significantly affects our ability to cover ongoing expenses and reduces the financial buffer we would otherwise have when returning home to settle and bond with our child.

We have set a target goal of $10,000 NZD to help cover these unforeseen, adoption costs.
