Supporting the refugee families on Lesvos
Bay of Plenty
Hi everyone,
This July I’m heading back to Kara Tepe refugee camp on Lesvos Island (Greece).
The people and this place had a huge impact on me when I was there in 2016, and unfortunately the situation there has only gotten more desperate.
Thousands of families who have fled conflict and made the traumatic journey to Lesvos and are now struggling in extremely dire conditions while they await asylum.
I’ll be volunteering with the same organisation, “Because We Carry” and as a contribution all funds raised will be going directly to them- they do incredible work focusing on supporting pregnant women, new mums and young families with supplies, groceries and have projects within the camp to help empower and care for these strong women and children. My goal of €1800 is to cover their groceries for one week.
I acknowledge that financially times are tough for everyone at the moment and NZ has been through the ringer lately so no pressure, any amount big or small is hugely appreciated ❤️
Having volunteered with them in 2016, I know and trust all donations go to a very worthy cause.
All funds raised will go to Because We Carry who focus on supporting Mothers and young families in the camp.
