We are filling a 20ft container with building supplies, roofing iron, timber, cement and distribute throughout the villages of our workers.
Te Puke, Bay Of Plenty
Every year for 7 months of the year, thousands of workers leave their lives, their families, and their communities and come to New Zealand to earn some much-needed money, but they are also the backbone of our horticulture and viticulture industries. These people sacrifice for the better good of their families only to have them literally ripped away by Cyclone Judy & Cyclone Kevin, which in the short space of 48 hours in Vanuatu.
Communities and villages from where our RSE workers live with their families have been completely destroyed. Years of hard work in New Zealand, extended periods of time away from their families have seen all that work have all disappeared in a matter of days.
The workers who are currently in NZ were unable to contact their families immediately after the cyclone, with some not able to find out the extent of the damage until days after the event, and having to provide support to their wives/families as best they could from NZ.
We are striving to fill a 20ft container with building supplies, namely roofing iron, timber, nails, screws, cement and distribute throughout the villages our workers are from in the Tafea, Torba and Malampa provinces in an attempt to be able to help them rebuild.
We recruit workers from Vanuatu to come and work in NZ's horticulture industry. The money will be used to directly support/aid in the recovery of their homes and villages.
Purchasing building supplies to distribute in villages in Vanuatu, any left of funds will go towards the cost of ocean freight/customs clearances for the container.
