    Kia Ora everyone!

Just rereading all your beautiful messages and aroha towards Ferny girl's journey. It's coming up 2 years since she was diagnosed and it's only taken me this long to realize I can reach out to you all and let you know how she is getting on by popping up an update!!

Firstly a massive thank you to everyone who contributed and send messages to us we really appreciate all the support.

Being able to have the funds to support Fern's diabetes has meant we can help her have the best childhood she can without always having to pull her away for fingers pricks and give her some freedom to be a kid. We've have many hurdles but Fern is such a little warrior, one who you'll never want to ness with I'm sure... Especially now she's 3 🤣

She has on the Dexcom continuous glucose monitor which is not funded by the govt yet. (Looks like there's talk about it but who knows when 🤷🏽‍♀️)

This wee device is meant to last 10 days (we don't often get the whole 10days with her being so active) and it continuously reads her blood glucose levels that we can see on her phone or pump. It works with her insulin pump to suspend insulin when needed and it also alerts us when she is too high or low so we can intervene and help prevent her hahbbg a hypo. This device has saved us/Fern many times where we could have had the worst outcome of fern not waking in the morning. When Fern goes away to stay with Nana's/aunties or goes to kindy, we are able to track on our phones what her glucose levels are doing and step in to help if needed. We are very lucky to have Neil helping fund it so we can continue helping her have the best childhood.

The funds are being used to buy adhesives, adhesive removers that are gentle on her precious skin, wipes, pump belts, covers and cgm adhesives. We are so fortunate to have had the support from you all to be able to afford these things. We honestly can't thank you all enough. She loves her unicorn insulin pump sticker as well as her favorite character pump belts that sit around her waist to hold her pump- as she grows and as they wear we need more made to fit. She loves choosing the patterns/colours
