Please help us raise money to save our friend Jaz's business after she had all her work equipment stolen and can't work without it

Auckland

It causes me great pain to have to write this page, let this at the very least serve as a reminder to you all that terrible things can happen to great people. This page is an attempt to help our friend/flatmate pull through this difficult time, we doubt very much that it will replace what is lost but aim simply to help Jaz get back on her feet.

Our Friend Jaz is the most amazing makeup artist, who, we watched struggle her way through 3am starts at Mac at the airport for many years to reach her goal of becoming a freelance makeup artist. She was at first cautious that her work was not good enough for freelance, however after much encouragement from her friends and flatmates decided to take the leap into full time freelance work. Her customers voted with their feet and Jaz has, as we all expected become very successful in her craft. She is booked with weddings, balls, and photo shoots most weekends and you can see some of her work here;

Below is a breakdown of the situation in which Jaz has been left and some background information on the steps she has taken so far:

- On Saturday 13th August Jaz and her partner Richie were heading out for a lovely dinner to Nippon Sake bar in Epsom.

- Jaz had come straight from a makeup job, so still had her hair and makeup kits in the car. Parking on Queens Mary Avenue in Epsom which is a relatively busy side street they didn’t think there would be any issues.

- Returning back after 45 minutes she found her passenger side rear quarter window broken and came to the realization that her kits had been stolen. As you can imagine this was absolutely devastating for Jaz.

- She is an amazing free-lance makeup artist who uses her kit almost daily for work. What is probably the most painful part is these scumbags wouldn’t even know the value of what they’ve taken.

- For those who don’t know the value of a Makeup Artist kit here is a little breakdown of some items that were in there…. - 26 MAC Foundations (3 different types) – ($70-$90 per foundation) - 3 15x Eye shadow Palettes – ($200 each) - 8 Face powders – ($60-$80 each) - 30ish MAC Brushes – ($70-$100 per brush) + Leather Brush belt These are just a few items……

- Also don’t forget her hair kit which had GHD’s, multiple curlers, Hair products and accessories. Jaz worked so hard to build up this kit and prided herself in having quality products for her clients.

- It is such a shame there are really some cruel people in this world. I know a lot of you are probably thinking but what about her insurance…..She thought her Contents insurance would cover it, however due to it being for business it needed to come under “Commerial Contents Insurance”. Jaz has learnt a huge lesson from this. 1. Have the correct insurance, 2. Never EVER leave your kit in the car.

- All in all we estimate it will cost her 6-8 thousand dollars to get back on her feet, which she is silently taking on the chin at the moment. Her friends can see inside the turmoil that this is causing her, as she cannot earn the money for the kit without the kit itself. She is a modest hardworking individual and is not one to take handouts, however desperate times call for desperate measures and any help we can get her will be a light at the end of the tunnel for our amazing Jaz.

As her friend I write this not because she has asked me to do so, not because I overlook the foolishness of not having ones livelihood insured, but simply because there is nothing else I can do to help her. Jaz is an amazing person and if you are lucky enough to have met her or worked with her I am sure you will agree, this could not have happened to a better person. Although this may be the only thing I personally can do to help, the collective "we" have the ability to make a difference. Hence we ask for your help, please help our friend recover from this terrible loss. Although many of you do not know her, I am sure that you have all experienced the pain that theft can cause. However, this thief has stolen our friend’s livelihood, this kit was her means to recover from such a loss. Please give what you can, anything you give will go directly to replacing her kit. Do not let the scum defeat our friend, together we can help her survive.

“One man alone can't defeat the forces of evil, but many good people coming together can.”
