Help our boy Kane live a pain free life!
Auckland
UPDATE:
On 17th of January Kane was booked in to see the specialist. The night before he became more weaker and in pain and his back legs just would not function. He was then taken for an emergency MRI and is staying over night for 24 hour care to give him morphine.
Today was the worst days as we were running out of hope and the only answer was to put him to sleep which is what we have been fighting to not do. The specialist prepared us for the worst as he was worried that this was something he could not fix.
Today’s cost:
Specialist visit = $230.00
MRI imaging = $4,00.00
Overnight 24 hour care = $200.00
+ medication that will be required when he is fit to come home.

Kane is a 1 year old pure bred male Rottweiler who was rehomed to us just before Christmas 2018. He was unable to stay with his previous owners due to issues with their landlord and so my husband and I agreed to take him as we have a love for dogs. (Big fur sister: Kiki-Dee LabXCollie)
Unfortunately in the process of being rehomed Kane began to be in pain every time he would get up from lying down. He had been to the vet and was treated for a urine infection however was still in serious pain in the lower half of his body. After countless vet visits to 2 different vets, 3 different diagnoses (urine infection, pancreatitis and enlarged prostate), an X-Ray, ultrasound, urine and blood tests and multiple medication he has now been diagnosed with Lumbosacral Stenosis. (More information in link below)

Kane requires specialist visits, a CT and MRI scan and surgery. Our boy is currently taking multiple pain killers, medication and a steroid to help him get through until we are hopefully able to raise the funds to help him be pain free again!
My husband and I immediately fell in love with Kane when we first met him and wish to not give up and to help him live his best life just like everyPAWdy deserves.

Surgery & MRI results 23 January 2019
Hi,
@ 10am this morning our boy went into theatre and is having his surgery today. The images from the MRI confirmed that he had discopondylitis (infection growing in spinal discs). It was heartbreaking to see the amount of infection that has grown as it prolonged and couldn’t be cured by antibiotics. Today marks 8 days in total in 24 hour care and he is finally being able to get the surgery needed to help him be pain free! During these 8 days he still struggled to walk and was in extreme pain getting up and down and would not eat for the first 6 days. On Monday he finally was able to eat and would only eat with us (his family) when we went to visit.
As he has been in for quite sometime and the complication of the surgery the funds raised will go directly to help with the costs. Each day as he is in 24 hour care it averages to around $750.00 per day because of the amount of medication given through IV.
We have also recieved an estimate amount for the surgery (photo will be uploaded) is around $9k - $11k.
If you are able to pray, donate or share our boys give a little please do so 🙏🏾
