I Have Guillain-Barré Syndrome. Help Me Help My Husband.

  • Thank You!!!

      16 March 2017

Thank you very much for all your prayers, help and support.

Recently, I have been able to carry our baby while I'm standing up. I've now been practicing to walk outside and on uneven surfaces without the walking frame. I started to practice going up and down the stairs. My seats are lowered down a bit. Yes, it feels like I have been recovering very well.

I am still waiting for another Nerve Conduction Test. I've had another blood test earlier today. The ct scan of my thymus gland came back normal.

Today is my 2-year-old son's last day at the childcare centre so he'll be with me at home full-time starting this weekend. And my 7-month-old baby will go to childcare centre down to three days a week starting next week.

Again, thank you very, very much. May all of you be blest with more wonderful years in your lives.

    Hugs,

    Anna

  • Getting Better + Stronger

      6 March 2017

    9th week...

I have graduated from having someone to come and assist me in showering. And I did everything while standing! Therapist said she couldn't imagine me doing that a month ago. Thanks to God! 🙏🏼💪🏼🛁

I haven't heard yet from my neurologists again but I will have a CT scan on Wednesday to check whether my thymus gland is enlarged or has tumor. They said another blood test result was expected to arrive from UK two weeks ago; however, they might be waiting for the ct scan result to discuss everything with me.

Again and again, thank you for all your help and support. 🙂

  • Mom-in-Law's Arrival

      20 February 2017

Mom-in-law arrived yesterday morning. We're really thankful to all of you who helped us in this journey. Husband will be able to work in the office as long as I don't have any appointment with the doctors in the hospital.

My neurologists might have to change the diagnosis since the blood test result from UK arrived and it had shown a high level of acetylcholine in my blood, which indicates a huge possibility that I have Myasthenia Gravis instead of Guillain-Barré Syndrome. I was overwhelmed last week when my neurologists discussed that with me because MG is a chronic autoimmune disorder which means that I might have attacks in the future unlike GBS which has a very minimal chance of happening again once I am fully recovered. I will also need to undergo a CT scan of my thymus gland since MG patients sometimes have big thymus gland or have tumor in it. Once the diagnosis is final and if it is me having MG instead, I will have to take some medicines then. I am still hoping for the best.

Against, thank you cery much for helping us.

  • Thank you

      14 February 2017

I would like to thank everyone who have prayed for us and who have given us help and support in many different ways. Thanks to all who have shared their blessings and who have shared our give-a-little page. Never in my life had I ever thought that I would have to do this.

I'll be seeing the Neurologists on Thursday who are about to give me updates since they already received the blood test results from UK and Australia. (I'm dreading to hear what they would tell me as I actually saw the result this afternoon.)

Some good things have happened though these past 2 weeks. We're able to find an excellent childcare centre for our boys although Francis still needed to take a day or two a week to be off from work to accompany me to my doctors. My mom-in-law was granted a visa and she's arriving on Sunday.

I feel that I've become stronger in the last two weeks although I've been down with fever, pains, weakness and some sort of diarrhoea these past 2 days. However, I'm really looking forward to live my life again the way that I used to. I have a family to fight for and I'm thankful that I have people like you in my life who have helped me to continue fighting for my life.

Again, thank you very much. Maraming salamat! ❤❤❤

  • Visa Approved

      8 February 2017

We're happy to inform everyone that my mom-in-law has been granted a visa. She has just received her passport with her visa. Hopefully, she will be here bu next week.

Again, thanks so much to all who have helped us.

And regarding my condition... while I've still been experiencing severe pains, I feel like I've been getting stronger and stronger. I'm still very weak but I am stronger now than last month.

Thank you so much again for all your prayers and support. ❤❤❤

  • Better Days

      1 February 2017
    Main image

Again, thank you so much to all of you who have helped and prayed for us in this journey.

It was my boys' first day at childcare centre yesterday and the educators told me that they settled very well. I missed them but I'm happy about how they were at the centre.

My husband was able to work for more hours yesterday too.

And my physiotherapist brought a walking frame so that I can start to do a little walking outside.

Things have been looking great for us and I can see that better days are coming!

Again, thank you. In our native language, salamat!

  • Childcare Centre

      29 January 2017

First of all, thanks to everyone who shared their blessings to us. I truly appreciate your help... I've been able to help my husband.

We've already found a good and reliable childcare centre for our children. The management has been very considerate to allow our children to start this coming week. Hopefully, the transition won't be too hard for our children (and for me and my husband...we're still anxious to leave our children under other people's care though). However, we believe that it is what's best not only for our children but also for me and my husband at this stage. The childcare centre's philosophies are aligned to our own parenting styles and philosophies that's why we chose it.

We're able to loan a little amount of money so we'll be able to pay for the first two weeks and your donations are a great help for us to pay for such loan and for the future weeks.

We're still waiting for the decision on my mom-in-law's visa application.

We definitely can see the light that's becoming brighter at the end of this very long and dark tunnel where we've been for almost a month now. Thanks for all your help and generosity.

    Sincerely,

    Anna
