Katinka received her new stem cells on Friday, 6 September, after a week of severe chemotherapy. All went well and no complications to date. She just suffers from nausea and vomiting. This apparently is normal and can last for up to 10 days. She is at day 5 now so let's hope all goes well!! She will have to stay in hospital for around 4 more weeks after which she will stay with her aunt in Somerset West, which is close to the hospital on the outskirts of Cape Town. She needs to be in semi-isolation for most of the time. Thanks for all your support. Love. Van Niekerk & Hugo family.

This is Katinka's last couple of days at home and she spends most of her time with her kids and close family. We will hit the road within the next day or two and head for Cape Town where she will be admitted to Haemelife, Kuilsrivier. Visit: https://haemalife.co.za/. Again, she wants to take the opportunity to thank each and every one for their support. Our hopes are high and Katinka is in great spirit. Greetings. The Hugo and van Niekerk Family.

With this I would like to use the opportunity to thank all donors for their generous contributions to date. It is highly appreciated by Katinka and our family. Katinka is very nervous but in very high spirits. We've been notified recently that her procedure will start on 28 August if all goes according to plan. She will be in a specialized unit in Cape Town for 2 months and then have to stay close to the facility for another 2 months. Thanks again for assisting us on this very tough journey. Regards. The Hugo & Van Niekerk family.
